Nomination & Voting Process

CoSIDA began this program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.

LOG IN TO NOMINATE/VOTE FOR AAA HONORS

Student-athletes are nominated by current CoSIDA members.
In order to nominate for 2013-14, you must be a current dues-paying 2013-14 CoSIDA member and/or have paid your 2013-14 dues. (Deadline to pay was Sept. 3, 2013 without incurring a $30.00 late fee... some exceptions to the late fee apply.)

Capital One Academic All-America® Program for 2013-14

For the third year in a row, the Capital One Academic All-America® program is comprised of four divisional teams, with student-athletes being honored separately in Division I, Division II and Division III. A fourth team - the College Division team - is comprised of NAIA, Canadian and two-year student-athletes. (Formerly, there were two teams - University Division (D1) and a College Division (all others).

Once the 2013-14 Committee list is generated and posted, please refer to this list for the AAA national chairs, vice-chairs and special chairs, the sport-by-sport district coordinators, and the District alignments (which are dependent on the division your school participates in).

Student-athletes are nominated by current CoSIDA members ONLY. Voting for Capital One Academic All-District (First, Second and possible Third Team members are named) is done by current CoSIDA members. When you vote on the Academic All-District ballot, you will be voting in your District only - and in your Division only (either Division I, II, III or College Division).

Those who obtain First Team All-District status move onto the national Capital One Academic All-America® ballot; these national awards (First Team, Second Team, Third Team for each sport category) is voted upon by Academic All-America® Committee members and current CoSIDA Board of Directors.

Begin the 2013-14 Academic All-America® nomination process HERE by logging into the online nomination system with your CoSIDA user name and password.

Academic All-America® federally registered trademark information

The CoSIDA Board of Directors and Academic All-America® Committee leadership remind CoSIDA members that CoSIDA's "Academic All-America®"mark is federally registered.

As such, CoSIDA members must help the Board and AAA Committee monitor the wrongful use of this registered trademark. If you see any other organizations, including coaching associations, using this registered trademark, immediately contact AAA Committee member Dick Lipe (Bentley University) at rlipe@bentley.edu. We will have our legal counsel, Collegiate Images, follow up with a letter regarding infringement of our federally registered mark and they will be asked to "cease and desist" from future use of that mark.

Many times during the year we find that our own membership is using "Academic All-America
®" in releases that they prepare for student-athletes receiving academic achievement awards from other organizations - when in fact those organizations refer to their awards as "All-Academic," "Scholar-Athlete," "Academic All-Star," etc. We ask that CoSIDA members be cognizant of only using "Academic All-America®" in relation to CoSIDA's program. There are NO exceptions.

^ In each program, the CoSIDA membership votes at the District Level and first-team All-District selections advance to the national ballot.

^ Only members of the Academic All-America® Committee and the CoSIDA Board of Directors vote at the national level to determine the Capital One Academic All-America® teams.

^ Athletes who are selected to the District teams should be referred to as Capital One Academic All-District, not District Academic All-America or CoSIDA Academic All-District, etc. Academic All-America® should only be used in reference to athletes who make one of the CoSIDA national teams.

^ The number of All-District teams selected in each program is determined by the number of nominations received. Only first-team All-District selections receive certificates and advance to the national ballot.

Capital One Academic All-America® Hall of Fame Program

Annually, a select few are enshrined into the Capital One Academic All-America® Hall of Fame. This prestigious Hall of Fame, created in 1988, recognizes Academic All-Americas who have achieved lifetime success in their professional careers and are committed to philanthropic causes in the communities where they reside. Through 2012, 25 classes have been inducted into the AAAHOF. A select group of 122 Academic All-Americas have been inducted into the Hall since its inception, with four to five deserving candidates enshrined annually. The Capital One Academic All-America® Hall of Fame plaques are on permanent display at the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Nominations for the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Hall of Fame run from September 17-November 8, 2013. Any nominations after Nov. 2, 2012 will be considered for the next year (nominations are open year-round with specific times designated for 2013 nominees).
