Assistant Director of Video and Creative Services

The American Athletic Conference is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Digital Communications/Creative Services. The individual will serve as a member of the of the Conference’s communications/external relations team. The position reports directly to the Director of Digital Communications.

The Role and Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate must have a combination of a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two to three years of practical experience and demonstrated skills in video production, preferably working with sports. The candidate should have practical experience and demonstrated skills in videography and post-production (using Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premier Pro). The candidate should have extensive experience creating graphics in After Effects and Photoshop and should be proficient in using NewTek TriCaster. Experience working within an athletic department or conference office at the collegiate level is preferred. On-camera experience is desired, but not required. Night and weekend work will be required.

The individual must have the ability to work well with a variety of constituents, including conference staff, and administrators and staff at member institutions.

Specific Areas of Responsibility and Examples of Duites:
The assistant director of video and creative services assists in all aspects of the digital and video department promoting the Conference’s 22 sports. The individual should have strong written and communications skills and comprehensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Experience working with Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube and SnappyTV are also required. Specific responsibilities and duties include:
  • Serve as an integral part of the The American Digital Network staff and assist and work directly with the Director of Digital Communications
  • Archive and log footage, highlights, melts and original content
  • Produce highlights and upload to Conference’s official digital platforms (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and TheAmerican.org) following select televised games and events
  • Design graphics for digital network broadcasts and shows
  • Assist with script writing for digital network shows
  • Understand all elements of video production, including shooting, editing and lighting  
  • Collaborate and produce features, profiles, and other original video content
  • Produce videos for select conference events
  • Travel and represent the Conference at championships and regular-season events to assist with Digital Network coverage as needed
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of video control room and all video related equipment
  • Capture, edit and post weekly coaches’ teleconferences
  • Ensure working knowledge on all NCAA compliance issues that pertain to communications matters
  • Assist with other Conference-related functions as assigned
