Assistant Director of Athletic Communications (Internship)

Presbyterian College, a NCAA Division I member of the Big South Conference, is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications (Intern) in the Department of Athletics. This is a professional position responsible for providing assistance to the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and Game Operations.

This position has a negotiable starting date on or after July 2, 2018, with no benefits and a monthly stipend of $1,000 a month, with room and board.

Bachelor’s degree required with a major in journalism, communications, public relations or related field preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills required. Knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign is essential. Familiarity with Stat Crew programs (volleyball, football, baseball/softball, lacrosse, and basketball a plus) and website content management systems is preferred.  A knowledge of video production and editing, as well as tricaster operation a plus.

A minimum of one (1) year experience in media relations or sports information at the NCAA I or II level is preferred.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with local, regional and national media to maximize coverage and exposure for PC Athletics through both traditional and new media sources. Duties include, but are not limited to, extensive copywriting (press releases, media guides and website), layout and design (media guides, website and other publications), editing and record keeping, as well as all game day obligations of assigned sports while assisting with football and men’s and women’s basketball, and other sports as necessary.

Sport responsibilities tentatively include volleyball, cross country, acrobatics & tumbling, cheerleading, and softball.

Some public address announcing may be required, as well as other duties as assigned by supervisor.
