Athletic Communications Intern

The University of Tulsa is seeking highly qualified candidates for a 10-month internship in the Office of Athletic Communications for the 2018-19 academic year. The University of Tulsa sponsors 17 varsity sports and is a member of the American Athletic Conference (UConn, UCF, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, Navy, SMU, South Florida, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, Wichita State)

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for the sports of volleyball, tennis and track & field, as well as assisting with media operations for football, basketball, softball, and the daily operations of the Athletic Communications Office. Duties include: game notes, news releases and feature stories; staffing home and selected away events; compilation and computer input of statistics; producing team record books; facilitating social media consistent with department goals; and other duties as assigned. This individual will also assist with media operations of the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship First & Second Rounds.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; previous media relations or sports information experience at the college or professional level; excellent communication and writing skills; social media skills; proficiency in desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop); working knowledge of the StatCrew statistical software package; experience with volleyball Statcrew preferred but not required. The candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks and a schedule that includes weekends.

Salary: $15,000 (10-month position)

Start Date: This position is a 10-month non-benefitted appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2018.
