Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant

Liberty University seeks a highly motivated and energetic Athletics Communications graduate assistant, with the ability and commitment to work within the faith-based mission and purpose of Liberty University.

Located in Lynchburg, Va., Liberty University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, bachelor's, master's, specialist and doctoral degrees.

Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to, being the primary media contact for specifically assigned men's and/or women's athletics programs (field hockey, women's lacrosse and men's and women's tennis). The successful candidate will also assist with most other home athletics events for Liberty's 20-sport NCAA Division I athletics department.

The successful candidate will handle the local, regional and national publicity for assigned athletics programs, maintain historical records, compile statistics, assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the athletics department web site ( and publicize any athletics department community service initiatives. 

The successful candidate must be willing to adjust to a flexible work schedule, working events on nights and weekends. Some travel with assigned athletics programs will be required.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field, with experience in the athletics communications/sports information field preferred. Candidates should possess strong written and oral communication skills, proficiency in desktop publishing and design (Adobe InDesign and Photoshop), web design and basic computer applications, strong social media skills and experience with in-game statistical software (StatCrew).

Compensation: Full tuition scholarship for selected graduate program at Liberty University, plus an annual $12,000 stipend ($1,000 per month). The position is a two-year commitment beginning July 2018 and concluding during the summer of 2020, regardless of progress toward a completed graduate degree.
