Athletic Communications Assistant Positions (2)

The Syracuse University Office of Athletic Communications is looking to hire two assistants to fulfill an 11-month commitment beginning in July of 2018. The successful candidates will possess a strong work ethic, enthusiasm and the long-term goal of working in the athletic communications profession.

Recent assistants who have benefited from the experience at Syracuse have secured full-time positions in the athletic communications offices at Army, Boston College, Cabrini, Canisius, Cincinnati, Clemson, Colgate, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Tech, Grand Canyon, Illinois State, Maryland, Michigan, Northeastern, North Texas, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Union, and with the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and New York Jets.
The responsibilities of the athletic communications assistants will include contributions to the university's athletics web site (, serving as the primary contacts for assigned Olympic sports and secondary contacts for football, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's lacrosse. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, providing media training for coaches and student-athletes, serving as a liaison with local and national media, writing press releases and feature stories, maintaining the department's website ( and social media channels, producing digital media guides, record books and game programs, assisting with supervision of interns and student staff, travelling with assigned teams, maintaining statistics and archives,  and providing information to the NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference and ECAC service bureaus. Syracuse's 20-sport athletic program is affiliated with NCAA Division I and the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and have work experience in a related field. The position requires strong writing skills, in addition to experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere, Stat Crew and all social media platforms.
In addition to the daytime office hours, nights and weekends are required. 

The salary is $17,000 each for an 11-month term of July 5, 2018 - May 31, 2019.
