Commissioner

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference seeks a commissioner to replace retiring Commissioner Chris Ragsdale after ten years of service.

The conference, comprising (Anderson University, Bluffton University, Defiance College, Earlham College, Franklin College, Hanover College, Manchester University, Mount St. Joseph University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Transylvania University), is a nationally recognized NCAA Division III conference. The next commissioner will engage with the presidents of HCAC institutions and other athletic leaders in the conference to envision and implement an innovative model of support for student-athletes that builds on rich history and excellence and leads to an even greater future for college athletics.

The Commissioner is the chief administrative officer of the conference and is responsible for all facets of conference operations including budgets, rules enforcement, scheduling, championship events and awards, and officiating. The position requires the capacity to work in a complex environment with many constituencies, flexibility and the ability to travel extensively, and strong humor and drive to help advance student and sport.

Our small office, based in Greenwood, Indiana in the vibrant Indianapolis metropolitan area, is staffed by the Commissioner and an Assistant Commissioner for Communications.
