Assistant Sports Information Director

Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
Full Time

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the Sports Information Director in the publicity and promotion efforts for 15 intercollegiate sports
  • Serve as the primary contact for women’s basketball, women’s soccer and baseball, while also directly supervising coverage efforts for gymnastics and track & field/cross country
  • Provide game-day assistance with other sports including football, men’s basketball, gymnastics, track & field and volleyball
  • Write press releases, produce information guides, game note packets and other press materials
  • Compile statistics
  • Coordinate interviews with media, student-athletes and coaches
  • Produce and provide content for the athletics website,, and all social media channels for the department of Athletics
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising, sports administration, communications or related field
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in athletic media relations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Stat Crew/Beavercreek and Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated proficiency with web design software (e.g. SIDEARM Sports)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Instagram, Snapchat) to promote events and news accordingly
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel when necessary
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, University professionals, faculty, coaches, community and media
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
