Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; frequent nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel as required
Salary Range: $23,670 ($11.38/hour)

Description
Athletics Communications Assistant will serve as the primary/secondary contact for sports as assigned, acting as a liaison between the athletics department and all media.

Must submit at least two (2) work samples to Mike Houck, Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communications (mhouck@ou.edu)

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field OR equivalent combination of education/job related experience AND 24 months of experience in collegiate/professional athletics communications as a student/intern.

Skills:
  • Strong writing, editing, computer, organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and mentoring skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Statcrew statistical software
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that includes night and weekend hours
  • Ability to gain and maintain working knowledge of university, Big 12, and NCAA rules and regulations as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts

Certifications:
  • Driver's License

Advertised Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to see including color, depth perception and clarity, touch, feel, grasp, and engage in repetitive motions

Departmental Preferences:
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and engage a variety of stakeholders, particularly students and other on-campus groups
  • Digital photography experience
  • Working knowledge of university, Big 12, and NCAA rules and regulations
