Staff Associate – Sports Information

General responsibilities:
  • Write releases and feature articles, edit and design media guides and game programs, maintain historical records, and compile statistics.
  • Maintain, review, and update the Athletics Department website and social media sites (rosters, schedules, biographies, previews, etc.).
  • Develop a budget for sports information and keep expenditures within budget parameters.
  • Coordinate the gathering and dissemination of game day statistics, live streaming, and sports information.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of home game day operations (recruit, assign and pay of official scorers, announcers, timers, statisticians and game day student personnel).
  • Provide media support for special events (Hall of Fame Ceremony, Senior Athlete Awards Ceremony, All-Athlete Gathering, Community Service, etc) and serve as primary media contact for all Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s 15 intercollegiate sports.
  • Represent Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference sports information meetings and communicate in a timely manner with other SID’s to gather and exchange information.
  • Nominate Mass Maritime Athletes for Conference, NCAA, regional and national awards in a timely manner.
  • Schedule officials for all home contests.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and MASCAC rules and regulations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the director or assistant/associate athletic directors.

Qualifications and requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 - 5 years of athletic administrative experience or equivalent, preferably at an NCAA Division III or higher level athletics program. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, student athlete eligibility, and related functions

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience compiling in-game statistics through The Stat Crew system is mandatory (live stats streaming preferred)
  • Dissemination of information, including statistics and web and social media materials, in compliance with NCAA requirements
  • Experience marketing through social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), ideally in a collegiate or athletics environment
  • Experience working with graphic design technologies (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Experience working with web technologies, including basic HTML and CMS tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously along difficult timelines.
  • Athletics webmaster experience
  • Home game and on-campus event administration
  • Successful nomination of student-athletes for conference, regional, or national weekly and seasonal awards
  • Ability to create produce game programs for home events
  • Ability to work nights and weekends

Salary: $50,000 to $55,000. The Academy offers generous benefits policies and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Academy is not sponsoring immigration visas at this time.
