Assistant Commissioner/Media Relations

The Sun Belt Conference is accepting applications for a qualified Assistant Commissioner/Media Relations. The Sun Belt Conference offices are located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The position will focus on the areas of media relations and communications. The position must work with national, regional and local media to promote the Sun Belt Conference story. The hired candidate will assist in the management of all members of the communications staff and assign day-to-day tasks while also implementing proactive media relations strategies and guidelines for the league and its schools. The position will call for individual sport responsibility for several conference sports – primarily men’s basketball, but other Olympic sports as assigned.

Four years of experience in athletic communications and a bachelor’s degree are required. 

The applicant should be self-motivated, show initiative and meet established goals and deadlines. 

Applicants must have strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as computer proficiency. 

Experience with various social media platforms, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop are required.  Previous experience with StatCrew software is required.

Travel along with evening and weekend hours are required.
