Graduate Assistantship

Gardner-Webb University, a private Christian university located in Boiling Springs, N.C., seeks to fill its Graduate Assistant for Athletics Media Relations position.

Gardner-Webb sponsors 22 NCAA Division I sports and competes as a full member of the Big South Conference and as an associate member of the Southern Conference (wrestling) and the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (men¹s and women¹s swimming).

Job Description
The selected candidate will serve as the primary contact for selected sports as well as assisting with other sports as assigned. Duties will include, but are not limited to, timely production of website content, social media content, press releases and publications for assigned sports. Successful compilation and distribution of statistics for assigned sports is also necessary and some travel will be required.

Bachelor degree and acceptance into a graduate program at Gardner-Webb are required. A degree in sports management, communications, journalism or related field and experience as an undergraduate in an athletics communications office is preferred. Familiarity with statistics software (StatCrew), social media platforms, desktop publishing software (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Creative Suite) and photography is also preferred.

The two-year position begins in January, 2017

Evening and weekend hours are common and holiday hours are also expected. The position reports to the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations.
