Assistant Director for Sports Communication, Digital, & Emerging Media

Assist in the publicity and promotion of 17 Division I varsity sports with the Big West Conference with a comprehensive approach which will elevate and advance the program. Under the supervision of the Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Communications, incumbent will be responsible for the media coverage of assigned sports. 

Salary
$53,700 Annually

Duties & Responsibilities Include
Update statistics, schedules, rosters, bios and other pertinent information on gohighlanders.com, Write pregame stories, including game notes. Write, post and distribute postgame stories and final results of UC Riverside athletics events to media outlets and social media. Investigate and utilize cutting edge technology to improve the distribution of information from and promotion of UCR Athletics. Nominate and promote athletes for conference, regional and national awards.

Act as spokesperson on topics related to the UCR Athletics Department in absence of the Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Communications. Initiate contact with local and national print, radio and television media representatives. Maintain an overall positive relationship with the media. Pitch and solicit stories on UCR Athletics. Responds to requests from the media. Make arrangements for media visitation, interviews with student-athletes, coaches and staff. Coordinates media relations at select home events. Assist with coordination of visits by national and regional television broadcasts. Disseminate information throughout all social media platforms.
