Multimedia/Video Coordinator

Salary: $24,000-$30,000 / Limited Appointment

The University of California, San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Multimedia/Video Coordinator.

UC San Diego sponsors 23 varsity sports and currently is an NCAA Division II institution, with an expectation of moving to Division I in the near future. In 2016-17 Triton Athletics won its second straight and seventh overall California Collegiate Athletic Association Commissioner's Cup and placed fourth in the nation in the Learfield Directors' Cup. Assist with the overall game operation for various sports.

Under direction of the Assoc AD-Marketing and Fan Engagement, the Athletics Multi Media and Video Coordinator serves a strategic role in developing and implementing the vision of the department’s video production as well as creating communications and marketing materials to support the Athletic program vision. This ia a limited position with core benefits.

This position will focus on the video aspects of marketing and will be responsible for producing or acquiring video content for Triton Athletics; loading creative content onto website and social media outlets and supervising undergraduate students that will be assigned to assist with video content creation.

The incumbent must have thorough knowledge of the program and applicable communications techniques, be able to work independently, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in the completion of assignments and projects. The incumbent must follow athletic philosophy consistent with that of the UCSD Athletic Department and a commitment to diversity in all of its forms.

Provides instruction in non-credited recreational or sports activities that require specialized or advanced training to participants of all ages. Requires independent action, initiative and independence to resolve issues. May help train other program instructors.

  • Advanced knowledge of set-up, broadcast production, instruction and in-game/in-event streaming is also required and knowledge of the ESPN3 collegiate program is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with age level specific to an activity is preferred.
  • Skills to develop original ideas, creative problem solving skills in a varied and challenging environment including service orientation, program management, sound judgment and decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs relevant to job duties. Strong technical knowledge of video equipment is preferred. Experience in creating, filming, editing and posting video content to various online locations (web, social media) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in Adobe Design applications, including Photoshop and Illustrator preferred.
  • Work leadership and interpersonal skills for those in a lead capacity, and the ability to work effectively across the organization, internally and externally with experience working with and/or supervising undergraduate students.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various social media platforms, and how to utilize each to effectively grow following and engage followers.
  • Work with UC San Diego Athletics teams and programs to tell the story of Triton student athletes through narratives, features, and in-depth interviews.
  • Adaptable and quick thinking, with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure to accomplish projects under tight time constraints.
