Associate Director – Athletic Communications

Duties & Responsibilities
You will play a key role in helping to manage the office of Athletic Communications and publicize select varsity sports for the Department of Athletics. You'll help run the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Communications office and help implement a strategic digital outreach plan for all teams. You'll run the office and serve as Athletics department spokesperson in the absence of the Director. You will:
  • Communicate the student-athlete experience across multiple communications and marketing platforms, including print, digital and social media, multimedia, media relations, and internal communications.
  • Promote positive branding, handle press coverage, and plan and implement strategic communications to various constituents.
  • Support assigned sports to ensure that appropriate storylines are created and communicated; that statistics, schedules, rosters, game recaps and other information is communicated to the appropriate media outlets; and ensure that game-day programs and support materials are created.
  • Help to enhance both the external and internal image of the Athletics department.

Required Education, Experience, Skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 5 years' work experience in sports media or public relations.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Proficiency with lay-out and design programs (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite); web technologies such as basic HTML; knowledge of in-game statistical programs (e.g., Stat Crew); Microsoft Word, Excel, and a database.
