Assistant Sports Media Relations Director

This position assists with the planning, directing, and implementing of all media, sports information and public relations for the Athletic Department, serves as a point person for LMU Athletics social media efforts, and assists with directing a marketing program to improve and increase audience participation at home athletic events. Assistant Sports Media Relations Director will serve as the media relations contact for Men’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, Softball, Cross Country/Track, Cheer.

Job Duties
  • Contribute to LMU Athletics social media, including helping to develop the master social media plan for LMU Athletics and working with sport teams and monitoring individual sport social media channels.
  • Work with Assistant AD, Media Relations and Associate AD, Community Engagement on all creative materials and graphic arts materials as it relates to global marketing plans. Work with Assistant Directors of Marketing on all marketing and promotions creative, including print advertisements, game day promotion flyers, game day programs, schedule cards and other pieces as assigned.
  • Work with Associate AD, Community Engagement and Assistant Directors of Marketing in establishing detailed marketing plan for assigned sports, with focus placed on ticket revenue programs (men’s soccer and women’s basketball). Coordinate with Assistant Athletics Director of Media Relations and fellow Assistant Director of Media Relations the implementation of specific sport plans with overall marketing initiatives, goals and objectives.
  • Write, edit, and distribute news/press releases through online and print medias, including local, regional, and national media outlets (print and electronic).
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director of Media Relations with the writing, editing, and design of department collateral, with focus on specific assigned sports.
  • Serve as information and statistical liaison with the NCAA, WCC, and other outlets for various sports.
  • Oversee design and updating of the Athletic Department’s website as it pertains to assigned sports as well as other assigned areas by Assistant AD of Media Relations.
  • Travel with various teams, serving as the Athletic Department’s media Relations representative (women’s basketball).
  • Oversee all game management of home athletic events as related to assigned sports, including content for all media platforms (scoreboards, website, social media, etc.).
  • Oversee event planning and operations of special events as assigned by Assistant Athletics Director of External Relations (Iggy Awards).
  • Work closely with various print companies on media guide projects and various photographers covering athletic events.
  • Represent LMU within Athletics community and at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: creative software, specifically Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), have working knowledge of video editing software (Final Cut Pro, Premier), proficient in Microsoft Office software, and experience with NCAA statistical software on PC based computer systems (StatCrew).
  • College degree with an emphasis in sports marketing, journalism, public relations or communications, or comparable work experience.
  • Three years experience working athletics in a University setting within a marketing/media relations/sports information office, experience in developing social media/digital media marketing and supply work samples of graphic design.
