Media Relations Assistant

The University of Tulsa is now accepting applications for an 11-month non-benefitted internship in the Office of Athletic Media Relations for the 2017-18 academic year. The University of Tulsa sponsors 17 varsity sports and is a member of the American Athletic Conference.

The qualified candidate will be challenged to perform at a high level, which will prepare the selected candidate for professional employment in the sports information/public relations field. The intern will assist in all daily operations of the Office of Athletic Media Relations and will serve as primary contact for the sports of volleyball, tennis and track & field. The candidate will also assist with media operations for football, basketball and softball. Duties include, but are not limited to: game day coverage, game notes, compilation of statistics, press releases, weekly sports roundup, record & fact books and social media updates/initiatives.

A bachelor’s degree in journalism/communication, sport management or related field and 1-2 years experience in a collegiate sports information office are required. Excellent writing and editing skills; computer knowledge (word processing, statcrew programs, desktop publishing) and social media skills are necessary. The candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks and a schedule that includes weekends.

Salary: $15,000 (11-month position)

Start Date: The selected candidate would begin on or about July 1, 2017.
