Central College
Sports Information Intern

A 10-month, full-time internship. Reports to Central College’s communications director and assistant sports information director.

Responsiblities include, but are not limited to:
  • Help provide content to the college’s athletics website.
  • Write and edit sports releases, hometown news, event stories and features.
  • Serve as primary sports information contact for several sports.
  • Assist in producing athletics event programs.
  • Assist with home event sports information management, including some supervision of student work crews.
  • Assist with video production.
  • Assist with maintaining season reports and with required reporting to the NCAA and Iowa Conference.
  • Play major role in regularly utilizing multiple social media platforms and implementing college’s social media strategies.
  • Organize athletics photo files.
  • Operate publishing and statistical software.

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and experience in athletics communication/journalism, preferably in intercollegiate sports information.
  • Must possess strong communication skills--particularly strong writing skills.
  • Must possess demonstrated computer skills, experience with Stat Crew, InDesign and Photoshop software preferred. Experience with video editing software, Dreamweaver desirable.
  • Must have experience with various social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
  • Must be willing to regularly work evenings and weekends.
  • Limited travel.

Position is 10 months, from Aug. 1-June 1. Compensation is $18,000 plus assistance with housing.
