Sports Information Graduate Assistantship

Winona State is seeking a graduate assistant to work in the athletic communications office. This position is a ten-month position that runs from August-May. Ideally, this person would serve in this role for two years and earn their graduate degree in the process.

This position will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the promotion and coverage of Winona State's 15 NCAA sports, including specifically assigned sports.

Work Schedule:
Varied working hours, night and weekend hours common with office hours dependent on weekly game schedules.

Qualifications:
Degree in public relations, communication or related field.
Must have strong written and verbal skills.
Knowledge of statcrew and sidearm website experience.
Ideally would have working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
Prior work experience in an athletic department is preferred.

Start Date: August 1, 2017 (flexible)

Pay & Benefits:
When you serve as a GA, you must be enrolled as a degree seeking graduate student. You must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 graduate credits per term if you have a full-time GA position. You will also be required to work the minimum hours for the stipend and tuition reimbursement.
  1. Full-time GA: 640 total hours — $10,000/year compensation (or $5,000/semester) plus full tuition for 6 to 9 graduate credits/term. Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 graduate credits per semester.
