Media Relations Internship

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Murray State University, an NCAA Division I FCS institution and Ohio Valley Conference member seeks qualified applicants for the position of Media Relations Intern, a part-time, 10 month, benefits-exempt position. The start date for the position will be August 1, 2017 with a projected end date of May 31, 2018.

Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required and the candidate must possess excellent writing and editing skills, along with a firm grasp of AP Style. The candidate must be proficient in StatCrew for basketball and football and familiar with StatCrew for soccer, volleyball, baseball/softball and tennis. Experience with desktop publishing programs (preferably InDesign and Photoshop) and a website content management platform (i.e. Sidearm, Presto, etc…) is also required. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, energetic, work well on tight deadlines and possess the ability to manage several projects at once. This position will include work on nights and weekends with some travel required.

Responsibilities:
Candidates will be responsible for producing media guides, game programs, game stories, statistics, website content and serve as the primary contact for women’s soccer, men’s/women’s cross country, women’s tennis, women’s track & field. Candidate will also be responsible for coordinating and monitoring all media interviews for assigned sports and assisting with others as needed. Candidate will also assist with all home football and basketball games, as well as other sports as needed.
