Athletics Communications Associate

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an Athletics Communications Associate. This is a 10-month appointment for the 2017-18 academic year with approximately a $2,000 per month salary. The position assists the Associate Athletics Director for Communications in promoting UAB’s intercollegiate sports programs. Designs, writes and produces media guides, news releases and other printed material. Works directly with assigned Olympic Sports and in a support role for football and basketball. Compiles and reports statistics and acts as liaison to the Conference USA office. Nominates student-athletes for national, regional and conference honors. Coordinates media operations for home events; assists with special events when necessary. Contributes to the maintenance of the official athletics website (uabsports.com), and social media platforms. Adheres to all institutional, conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations. Reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field and previous related experience. Experience in an athletics environment is preferred.
